Jeff Spight, President
Jeff sets strategy, drives implementation and creates new market opportunities. He has more than 18 years of healthcare experience, serving in leadership roles at health plans such as AmeriHealth Mercy, Bravo/Healthspring, and WellCare. Prior to joining the company, Jeff served on the executive team with McKinsey & Company’s Leading Systems Network and McKinsey’s Advanced Healthcare Analytics groups, working with international health systems in the United Kingdom, Singapore and Australia. Jeff also serves on the Board of Directors for the National Association of Accountable Care Organizations. He earned an MBA from Stanford University and a BA in economics and mathematics from Colorado College.
Michael Barrett, Senior Vice President, Southeast Region
Mike is responsible for business development and oversees the company’s ACOs in the southeast region. In addition to the oversight of these ACOs, Mike is responsible for program growth and development. He has more than 25 years of experience in managed care payer and provider operations, holding executive positions at large hospital systems, managed Medicare physician groups and HMOs. Prior to joining the company, Mike assisted in the turnaround of a large globally capitated “at risk” IPA in greater New York City serving Medicare, Medicaid, Commercial and ACO populations. Mike earned his BS degree from Syracuse University. Mike is Co-Chairman of the National Association of ACOs (NAACOS) and was one of the original founders of the association.
Karen Holt, Vice President,
Karen oversees MSSP and Next Generation Model ACOs in the Southwest Region. Karen's 27 years in the healthcare industry has given her substantial experience in practice transformation, quality reporting, and risk/cost management. She formerly served as manager of business development for Gulf Coast Physical Therapy & Rehabilitation where she developed a highly successful patient engagement marketing program. Prior to joining CHS, Karen served as the director of physician network development for Memorial Hermann Health System in Houston, TX, and was a member of the strategy team that led the development of the Memorial ACO. She was directly involved in the development, engagement, and transformation of 2,500 independent physicians in Memorial’s Clinically Integrated Network, where she focused on quality reporting and utilization management.
Adrienne Opalka, Vice President,
Adrienne oversees ACOs in the eastern region, extending from Maine to Virginia. Adrienne’s 25 years in the healthcare industry has given her experience in hospital administration, managed care operations and finance. She entered the industry as a health care consultant at Bain & Company. Prior to joining the company, Adrienne held executive-level positions for three health plans and founded Columbia-Presbyterian Medical Center’s Medicaid Managed Care plan. She earned an MBA and her undergraduate degree from Yale University.
Sarah Bell, Vice President, Marketing
Sarah leads marketing, focused on strategies to engage physicians and beneficiaries as value-based care models take hold. Sarah’s background is in consumer packaged goods and she was an early adopter of online digital marketing. Sarah began her career in advertising working with Fortune 500 companies at Grey Advertising, SSC&B/Lintas, and other firms. In 2001, she joined parent company Universal American, which was acquired by WellCare in 2017. During her tenure, she has been responsible for brand development, acquisition/direct marketing programs, and new product introductions, including a national prescription drug plan. Sarah earned her AB degree from Princeton University.
Elena Tkachev, Vice President, ACO Analytics
Elena focuses on transforming information into insight. Previously, Elena worked at McKinsey Solutions Office in Healthcare Value Analytics. Elena also held leadership positions at Horizon Healthcare Innovations, a subsidiary of Horizon Blue Cross Blue Shield (BCBS) of New Jersey, Anthem and Milliman. Elena earned an MBA from Fordham University and a BS in actuarial science and applied mathematics from Maryville University. She was a member of the Brookings-Dartmouth ACO Learning Network from 2011 to 2013.
